While on holidays I always enjoy finding new places to eat and I regularly return to my favourites. The Sunshine Coast not only has the best beaches but also has some fantastic place to buy fresh food and enjoy dining out.
I know there are many places to visit but these are my personal favourites at the moment.
The Spirit House located at 20 Ninderry Road, Yandina. This contemporary Thai restaurant and cooking school cater for vegetarian and gluten-free diners. I recommend taking advantage of their shared dining experience.
Daisy’s Place is located at 2859 Steve Irwin Way, Glenview. Surrounded by a lush rainforest it is a surprising place with exceptional service and delightful menu. The meals are beautifully presented and full of flavour.
Amici Cafe is a great restaurant to enjoy with the family. The vegetable stack is definitely worth trying.
Ground Organics – Mooloolaba Esplanade Mooloolaba.
Choose from a range of 100% organic, raw, plant-based, gluten and dairy-free items on the menu.
Today I was recommended Empire Organics at 28 Omrah Ave, Caloundra. They already have an extremely successful cafe at Nambour.
It is an old house with heaps of character and fun with an open deck to sit on and lots of quirky chairs and timber tables. Look out for the new pizza oven, veggie patch and Sunday jazz afternoons. This is a place worth keeping an eye on. Look out Caloundra.
This is my one-stop destination for all things natural and organic. It is not only a Natural Foodstore with over 18,000 thoughtfully chosen product lines but also an award-winning Café’, which offers a 95% organic and gluten-free menu; a Garden Centre specialising in pesticide free gardening and also home to my favourite organic butcher. If you are looking for anything from organic fruit and vegetables to organic skin care, to dairy free products to a mouth-watering piece of locally farmed meat or even a green juice then this is the place for you. My children and I regularly enjoy shopping here and then devour a delicious lunch. My girls love the Spiced Chicken burger and my son loves the lamb burger. The salads are all deliciously fresh and flavoursome. They are now open for dinner on Thursday nights and also serve breakfast. The dinner menu is quite small but very enjoyable.
I really enjoy farmers markets and think there is nothing better than buying your food directly from the farmer. These are my favourites:
Kawana Waters Farmers Markets – every Saturday at Sportsman parade Bokarina between 7am -12pm. The market showcases some of the freshest produce in the region.
The Big Pineapple Markets (or as my son calls it The Big Fruit) is the biggest all weather markets on the coast. Open every Saturday 6:30am till 1pm. Location is 76 Nambour Connection Road Woombye.
Eumundi Markets are worth visiting and are open Wednesday 8am – 1.30pm or Saturday 7am – 2pm.
Noosa Farmers Market are on every Sunday at The Noosa Australian Rules Football Club on Weyba Road, Noosaville between 7am and 12pm. They also showcase some of the finest and freshest produce in the region.
There are always special stalls at each market that I return to time after time. I love Wholefood Provisions who are at Kawana Waters Farmers Markets every Saturday and Noosa Farmers Markets every Sunday. They create unique gluten-free treats with the best quality local and seasonal ingredients. Many of their desserts can be enjoyed at the Kunara cafe. For the last two years for my birthday I have enjoyed a delicious Chocolate Chia & Goji berry cake with delicious coconut on the top.
For part two of this post I will let you all in on a special new place that I discovered this holiday.
